Phentimate

Phentermine HCI/Topiramate/Methylcobalamin Slow Release

Phentimate combines two of the most common medications for appetite suppressants approved by the FDA: phentermine and topiramate. Both are intended to be used as part of an overall weight loss plan, and together have increased weight loss efficacy. Phentimate is unique to Options Medical Weight Loss and was developed by Options’ Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Katrina Mattingly.

How it works

Phentermine is an adrenergic agonist that promote weight loss by mimicking the sympathetic nervous system, which is how your body responds to stress. It blocks the brain’s hunger signals by increasing the body’s release of catecholamines, which are chemicals made by the adrenal glands. These hormones are important in stress response and cause an increase in heart rate and a decrease in appetite.

Topiramate works by reducing bursts of electrical activity in your brain and restoring the normal balance of nerve activity. It is important to keep a homeostatic level of brain activity as hormones and neurons involved in the regulation of feeding are in the hypothalamus and brainstem. Therefore, topiramate, normalizes this regulation which leads to a decrease in appetite and feelings of fullness that last longer after eating.

How its prescribed

Phentimate is taken once a day in the morning. Typically, the medical provider will start you on a low dose and increase your dose after 14 days, if needed. You will have follow-up appointments with the medical provider or weight loss counselor to track your weight loss progress and discuss any medical questions or concerns. We recommend following an Options Diet Nutrition plan for best results while taking Phentimate.

You may be a candidate for Phentimate if you struggle to strictly adhere to a diet plan, have frequent hunger throughout the day, do not want to give up alcohol consumption, taking phentermine alone or as mono drug therapy, or if you’re looking for a long-term weight maintenance plan and can no longer continue phentermine.
